What are we celebrating?
OK, well that’s the simple part, you see Waycross Georgia was incorporated March 3rd 1874. So what can we do about that, well yourWARELOCAL.com, the local community website, wants to and feels it would be great to celebrate this event, so we’re going to have ourselves a big old WINGDING!

It will be held on March 3rd 2012
Last year, as March 3rd 2011 fell on a Thursday, it was held on Saturday the 5th March so that all the family will be able to attend and have fun. The good news is that THIS YEAR, 2012 the 3rd falls on a Saturday.

So, What’s the plan?
We are having a load of events going on throughout the day at the YMCA on Plant Ave.  There will be ample parking loads of space because there will all sorts of food, and competitions and fun for all ages.

Prize Draws throughout the Day!
Through the generous donations of our sponsors there will be a prize draw every 15 minutes throughout our event. Donate a $1 and we’ll give you a ticket for the drawing, but why stop there, donate more and you’ll stand more chances of winning. All the donations will go to 4 LOCAL charities: Megan’s House, American Cancer Society, Magnolia House, and the Shriners. All donations given will be divided equally between them, so please give generously.

Chick’n & Dumplins and Chick’n & Rice Competition
Are you a good cook? Well bring some ‘homemade’ chick’n & dumplins or chick’n and rice of your choice to our WINGDING and we’ll see. It’s FREE to enter so give it a go.

Hog Hollerin’ Competition
We hope you’re in good voice for this one, so get some practice in, because we’ll have something to shout about. It’s a FREE contest so why not join in, after all you may win a prize.

Gurnin’ Competition
Like most on our events we like to be different, and this is another out of the box competition. How do I explain it, I can’t but may be a picture or four will help. Basically you get up on stage and pull a funny face, an ugly or strange face, and it’s actually called Gurnin’. So do you fancy a go, it’s a great laugh and you bring nothing but the face so there’s no preparation required!
Don’t forget this one is FREE too and for adults and kids.

Do these give you an idea, so get to a mirror and start practicing!

Melon* Seed Spitting Contest
Another one for you to practice, but not for long I’m sure, it just comes naturaly for you southern guys and girls. Now we will more than likely have to change this a little, and change melon seeds for sun flower, but the games the same, and it’s going to go a long way! Plus it’s another FREE event.

Chuck a Duck
This is going to be great fun for everyone, you’ll have to get involved in this one, it’s a 50/50 game at just a $1.
Don’t worry no ducks will be injured in this event.

Wang your Wellie
This is going to be great fun for everyone, you’ll have to get involved in this one too but this is free.

Double or Drop
A great kids game and free to enter for kids of all ages, and like the ducks, no cabbages will be hurt in this competition either.

Do you have a older relative or senior friend?
We are looking for the oldest Waycross Ware County resident on March 3rd 2012, we’re going to present them with a WINGDING gift, sponsored by Kroger. You will have to go some because we have a lovely lady we’ve found that makes everyone else look young! but the great news is she’s really young at heart.

Are you or do you know someone having a baby?
We are looking for the first baby to be born on March 3rd 2012, in WaycrossWareCounty, so if you know someone pregnant and due around March 3rd 2012 they could be a winner and not even know it yet as we’re going to present them with a WINGDING gift, sponsored by Kroger.

Music & Entertainment
There will be a lot of music events happening on the day, but we’re just getting these details arranged at the moment, but it’s going to be good.

There’s going to be a lot more things going on, with as we said, music and entertainment throughout the day, you’ll just have to be there so you don’t miss anything, trust me, this is going to be a real family fun event, or should I say, WINGDING.
